I have heard both sides of the stem cell argument. I absolutely think that stem cell research is not only necessary but a a necessity. In my opinion, we have to use every means that our science can offer us to make life better for anyone afflicted with a debilitating disease. A new method of collecting stem cells, as seen on CNNMoney where a woman’s menstrual cycle can be beneficial to research is quite ingenious and something that is much less controversial than other methods. What if something that you have inside you was able to make life better for someone? Or yourself? The process of collecting the cells is quite easy to do, with a discreet way of sending in what you collect for storage. No matter how busy your life is, and let’s face it – everyone’s lives are crazy these days, you can easily take control of the future in the comfort of your home. The scientists at C’elle, a revolutionary company, are literally moving leaps and bounds ahead in their work to help women preserve something that we produce naturally so that in the future science can harvest these cells to make life better, possibly even saving a life. The future is coming for us all, and since no one knows what that future will bring, having cells preserved could mean life or death.

Worries..

Good news & bad news. At the geektastic Comic-con this past weeked Smallville fans learn that so much will be improved on the show. Not only will Clark finally work at the Daily Planet, but he will likely fly. With Green Arrow on the show as a regular, you can bet that we will see more Justice League stuff as well. Also the Legion of Superheroes will make an appearance, and written by the original writer. All in all, as someone who is usually disappointed in the show, this season looks to be something special. Go out with a bang guys!

That said, my bad news & convern is about the new the X-files movie. It came out Friday, and while it is great, the audience just wasn’t there for it. I have seen the film twice now, and truly love that this movie was even made much less that it really is very good. It worries me about the box office because I really hoped that there would be at least one more movie to come from this movie. Now that I have Mulder & Scully back (brilliantly played by David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson, I do not want to let them go. I think there is a lot of story left to tell, especially since 2012 is coming fast. I had hoped that people would turn out but with Dark Knight having such a hold on the box office, there wasn’t enough of us to make a difference for X-Files. Personally, I think they lost so many fans because of the complete joke that seasons 8 & 9 were and now people are leery of coming back, wondering if that bad taste will continue. It doesn’t, the movie really delivered in bringing the main characters back, and in such a well developed story. I just want more.

Dark? Yes. Legendary? Possibly.

The Dark Knight has to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. The depth of the characters and the quality of the story is just utterly amazing.  I recommend this move to anyone. Heath Ledger was probably one of the best actors of his generation; his Joker is something that people will talk about for years because it is truly legendary. Please give this guy an Oscar, not only for the work in this movie, but his whole body of work. I love this movie, and want to see it again.

I think these films get the critical approval because Christopher Nolan honestly looks to hire people solely on talent, not just a marque name. The people involved in these movies are an impressive team and the new additions (Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal) fit seamlessly into the story that began in Batman Begins. The real tragic thing is that Batman’s arch enemy, the Joker cannot be a part of the film series anymore because of the unfortunate death of the incredible Ledger. Or it is my hope that they do not bring him back, any other actor would not work for me now that this character has been done so well. I have faith in Christopher Nolan, and I sincerely hope that there is one more movie. These guys are fantastic at what they do, all of them. Kudos.

Finally time to see.

July is a great month for movies. First the Dark Knight comes out Friday. Which, I have no doubt, will be brilliant. I am hearing some amazing things about this movie, and especially about the brilliance of the late (and missed) Heath Ledger as the Joker. I cannot wait. Then on the 25th, the X-Files: I want to believe comes out. Honestly I never thought this movie would happen and now that it is so close to me seeing it, I am nervous. I know, what an idiot, but this is a show I have loved for years. Finally Mulder again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I got the new Iphone 3g. I waiting in excruciatingly hot southern muggy heat for 3 hours to get one last Friday morning. Honestly, its worth it. I have never had a phone, smart-phone or other, to be this fun to use. And wow, it is fast compared to what I have had before. Got to say, I do see why this phone deserves the hype. Gonna enjoy it for a long, long time.
