Why can’t humans evolve?

So I just heard last night on the news that some of the so called "bait" dogs that Michael Vic used in his dog fighting ring were beagles. My head is finding it impossible to compute just how this is possible. I can’t get myself to stop thinking about this. I have a beagle mix and she is perfect. Beagles are known for their fun and love. These animals only want to kiss. LOL Just hearing about this story on the news puts me in a funk that consists of only anger, outrage, and unimaginable heartbreak. I hear beagle and I can only think of my baby. ’

I wish I could understand the world we live in. There is so much cruelty and intolerance surrounding us constantly. It feels like love and understanding are becoming obsolete sometimes. What is happening? Humans have always had the uncanny ability for cruelty. Look at the way they used to crucify people or slaughter anyone who didn’t go along with everyone else. But we are in 2007. nearly 2008 and things have not improved all that much. We are still barbaric creatures, killing each other for no reason, like in our current Iraq war. Or the mass killing animals for food & clothing even though we are fortunate enough to have an abundance of options in today’s world. Science can only take us so far. We have to change our ways. We are plundering this planet. You have to wonder what will be left of the world when man’s time on Earth comes to and end. Nothing will be left in plentiful supply, including water.

Coming back to my original point though. I see a lot of heartlessness in the world today. And that definitely included harming animals. People hunt; I may not think it is necessary but I cannot control those things. My main problem is those who decided to harm our pets. These are creatures who rely on us much like small children. And when I see abuse on any level my heart breaks a little bit. I just want people to stop and use their conscious more often. I think if we all behaved like dogs and just loved instead of having so much malice the world would be a better place. We have to turn a corner sometime. I wish it would be sooner rather than later. No innocent animal, should needlessly suffer because someone else doesn’t have any compassion in their heart.

So we are finally getting a sequel to the X files. This is something I have waited for to a degree that is pretty much indescribable. Though I truly never believed it would actually come to fruition. And thank goodness the script is ready and we won’t have to wait till goodness knows when to see Mulder back on the screen because of the strike.

I really don’t know what it is about this show that I will always love. If I really think about it, I guess I do know the reason – Fox Mulder. He is not only quite enticing to just look at, he is probably the single most amazing character I have ever seen in film or television. It is just everything about him that makes him so damn compelling. He is tragically scarred from having a messed up childhood. He is so driven that he forgets to stop and notice things around him at times. But he has such a big heart and truly cares about every one of the cases they investigate, and consequently the people involved in said cases. And honestly David Duchovny just made that character so incredibly lovable. His dry wit has been sorely missed by this fan.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Scully as a character too, but something that just radiates from Mulder, mostly his compassion, that has kept me with my fingers crossed for a sequel for years. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean. ;)

I am going to be very anxious to learn what the plot of this movie will be. Surely in some form they will be forced to deal with the ramifications of the finale in ’02. With Mulder and Scully on the run from the government. I would shudder to think that all of that will be glossed over. I seriously doubt they will screw this up. There is so much potential to keep this story going in movies. To tell the honest truth though, I am not worried about the story, because Mulder will be up there on the big screen – where he belongs – again. And for me that will make things right with the world for a couple of hours. 2008 come on in…….

With the recent Writer’s strike going on in the entertainment industry I am left to wonder about something everyone thinks about, will someone fight on the picket line? You see it, oddly enough, in movies all the time where someone tries to cross the picket line and chaos ensues. Tear gas goes flying from the police presence and people get arrested. I would hope that this one is less dramatic in that way.

While I do think that people in the business get paid more than enough the writers do have some valid points behind them. Personally I think truly creative and ingenious people are getting screwed thanks to reality tv. Those shows are so inane and simple that there is no way anyone with a little bit of a brain could work on them. I truly despise the dumbing down of our society and I think reality tv is a big part of that.

I know that movies are probably not going to suffer, there are tons of scripts, it seems already in the works so the public won’t likely notice much difference at the cinema. But on tv, that is something different. I would imagine television producers are sweating wondering what they will do with a much shorter television season. I am particularly thinking of a show like the brillian "Lost" which won’t even be back on until February. Just how many episodes are already written and just how short would the season be for us viewers? Hopefully, the writers can get what they want and everyone, including us who pay them, will be happy.
